Education, Expertise & Artistic Precision = Hair Transplant Surgeon Expert

I’m honored to be the new Vice President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, which is the leading authority of hair loss treatment and restoration. The ISHRS is a global medical association with over 1,000 members from 70 countries. We are dedicated to achieving excellence with the most natural looking results, communicating realistic goals, and having the highest patient satisfaction. Being an active officer and on the Board of Governors allows me to aim for the highest standards of excellent medical practice, ensure strong medical ethics and honestly promote medically proven research and technology in the hair restoration industry.

When Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) entered the hair restoration surgery market in the early 1990’s (replacing the former “plugs”) which gave our patients more natural-looking results, hair restoration surgery was part of the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery specialties. The ISHRS was formed by hair transplant surgeons who saw a need for a formal professional medical society who would uphold higher standards of care in this emerging hair transplant field.

We currently host the largest annual scientific meeting for hair transplant surgeons in the world to improve patient outcomes, train other physicians, encourage scientific studies and educate the public about hair restoration surgery. We are also an active advocate to protect and educate consumers about the increasing number of unlicensed personnel or physicians with minimal training worldwide performing hair restoration surgery.

With a properly trained physician, hair transplants have natural looking results and are virtually undetectable to the eye. Unfortunately you only notice the bad hair transplants. Having an artistic appreciation of how hair naturally grows, understanding naturally-occurring follicular-units (one, two or three hairs per follicle) in the skin, being formally trained in hair restoration in medical residency, and now teaching the USC/LA County medical residents the latest advances in hair restoration, has allowed my patients to receive the most natural looking results with realistic goals and the highest patient satisfaction.
